Happiness Is Not Just About the Look

Beauty is widely defined as a subjective feature of things which makes these things enjoyable to see. These things may include sunsets, landscapes, humans and exquisite works of art. Beauty, with art and beauty, is perhaps the most important theme of aesthetics, among the largest branches of science. philosophers and scientists across the globe agree on the basic premises that beauty is a personal attribute of the human mind and furthermore that it is a conscious attribute of human choices and emotions.

It is for these reasons that the definition of beauty has sometimes been called into question, with some thinkers contending that beauty is merely what other people find aesthetically attractive, while others think that beauty is something more objective and significant to our overall well-being. However, with social media increasing its influence on our everyday lives, the questions surrounding beauty have become much more direct. In fact, recent years have seen many high profile public relations campaigns focusing on the concept of beauty. The runways, which traditionally catered to a focus on glamour and sexuality, have recently begun to focus more on the concept of beauty in the larger cultural context, taking into consideration the social impacts of beauty practices on different groups of people who experience different forms of beauty.

This broader perspective on beauty is most definitely a step in the right direction towards a more expansive understanding of beauty. But just because the aesthetic arts are no longer about highlighting the physical beauty of objects, does not mean that the aesthetic appreciation of beauty is necessarily pointless. As we increasingly turn to technology to communicate and enhance our experience of both the visual and verbal aesthetic senses, the idea of beauty becomes not so easily separable from the more general ideas of artistic excellence and happiness. Aesthetic beauty may not necessarily be the goal but the means to an end, and in this case, the end is undoubtedly happiness. Happiness encompasses everything aesthetic, including the aesthetic sense itself. Aesthetic beauty is only one aspect of happiness; however, the idea that beauty encompasses all aspects of happiness is a fairly new idea, and one that is starting to take shape more as time goes on.
